Currently, our team’s been assigned to manage the brand’s Pinterest page, and although it has only been a few weeks, we’ve learned so much about sustainable beauty and the importance of supporting eco-friendly skincare brands.

We decided to sit down with Lin Chen, the founder of Pink Moon, to talk more about how it all started. Read on for our Q&A session:

Q: Tell us about the story behind Pink Moon. What is Pink Moon all about?

A: Part of my inspiration behind Pink Moon is to empower and connect women, encourage genuine self-love, and build an authentic long-lasting community. I've been personally and professionally involved in the natural beauty and wellness industry for almost a decade, and during this time I've noticed a lack of “by women, for women” spaces that are based in love, compassion, and community. To create the space I desperately needed and craved, I decided to pour my expertise into opening Pink Moon, a self-care sanctuary that is exclusively filled with female-owned brands (over 25% of which are founded by WOC!).

Additionally, Now more than ever, women are subjected to unrealistic expectations. We work AND raise kids and/or run businesses on top of managing everything else. Yet, the conventional beauty industry is against women. It can be far from kind and often ignore, exclude, and shame women. Society and marketing tell us that we need to fight the signs of aging and cover up the flaws on our skin. I aim to reframe this narrative and help women feel confident and beautiful in their own skin and embrace aging. Our messaging is body positive and focuses on healthy skin / not anti-aging. We celebrate women from all walks of life and believe that every woman deserves support and we want to help facilitate moments that remind them of their magic and inherent worthiness.

Why did you decide to create the brand and what inspired you to work with the selected partnered brands on your mission to give back?

Growing up, I witnessed the detrimental effects of my own mother never taking time out for herself. In your average Asian household, mental health is rarely discussed, and as a young girl, I saw my mother give so much of herself away, leaving little time for her own needs. ⁣⁣I want to inspire women to genuinely love themselves... because when you take care of yourself, you're equipped to take care of others around you and the causes you advocate for. In many ways, Pink Moon was inspired by my mother and the women who are just like her. I wanted to take the spirit of love and altruism that I’ve seen in so many women and make it the core of everything I do.

I also believe that a product is so much more beautiful when it does more than just bringing value to my life, but adding value to others and making a difference. I believe that the pursuit of wellness extends far beyond ourselves and also involves giving back and taking care of others and the planet.

What does "wellcare" mean — specifically to you?

Wellcare is the joint pursuit of wellness and self-care. Wellcare goes beyond taking care of your skin. It goes deeper and is an intentional way of taking care and loving yourself. An intentional self-care routine is an important practice in self-love. The very act of taking time alone is meditative and soothing by nature: A moment to check in with yourself and unwind from the pressures of everyday life.

What are some of your current favorite products available via Pink Moon, and why?

My Lunar Drops Facial Oil is a daily favorite! The silky texture makes my skin loved and coupled with the Pink Moon Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool, it's the ultimate way to love my skin. I'm also obsessed with the Meant Do-All Wash. It's a 3-in-1 face wash, body wash, and shampoo. It saves time and space in my shower. And I'm also currently loving our Pink Moon x Le Coco Clair de Lune Candle. It's our first branded collaboration, which I'm so excited about. The founder of Le Coco, Liggia, is a Latina immigrant and single mother and I'm happy to share her story and beautiful candles. The candle is handmade and hand-poured in Miami with coconut + apricot wax.

What are some of the goals you have planned for the future of Pink Moon?

I hope to open the Pink Moon physical wellcare space next year so I can further my mission in person. There are also more Pink Moon products underway! A face/hand soap, face/body/hair/aura mist, a signature candle and perfume, and more!

We’re so excited to see what’s next for Pink Moon! Meanwhile, follow Pink Moon on Instagram and Pinterest to stay up to date with the brand. For more skincare content, check out their blog at https://pinkmoon.co/blogs/news.
